Joshua L. Smith

Joshua L. Smith joined our team at Watson Smith, in 2014. Mr. Smith received his law degree from the Texas Tech University School of Law in 2007. While at Texas Tech, Mr. Smith focused on water law and natural resources, as well as civil litigation.
After graduation, he returned to Las Cruces and began as an associate with the law firm of Hubert & Hernandez, P.A., primarily practicing water law, administrative law, real estate law, and domestic relations.
Mr. Smith then made a move to the law firm of Miller Stratvert P.A., in its Las Cruces office. Once there, he continued to practice water and natural resources law along with medical malpractice defense, civil rights, employment law, commercial litigation, and insurance defense.
Mr. Smith has significant experience representing a number of mutual domestic water consumer associations and similar entities throughout southern New Mexico. He also works with a variety of business owners to meet all of their needs from formation through to the dissolution of a business. Mr. Smith enjoys his work in southern New Mexico and particularly enjoys his work with regional farmers and ranchers.
Mr. Smith was raised on the Hatchet Ranch in Southwest New Mexico before moving to Deming, where he graduated from high school. Mr. Smith has strong ties to southern New Mexico and the agricultural community having witnessed and participated in family ranching from a young age. With his experience in ranching and agriculture, he received his B.S. in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business from New Mexico State University in 2003.
Mr. Smith is happily married with two beautiful children, and enjoys golf, riding his horse, and spending time with his family in his spare time.
