Matthew G. Watson

Matt Watson graduated from New Mexico State University in 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Government, a minor in Spanish and participated in the Law and Society Program. He attended law school at the University of New Mexico, graduating in 2002. While attending UNM, Mr. Watson wrote for the U.S. Mexico Law Journal and was a member of the Federalist Society.
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Watson was employed by a corporate litigation firm in El Paso, Texas where he received an introduction to the practice of law and began developing a focus on civil litigation. A brief stay in El Paso was followed by employment with a small firm in Anthony, New Mexico where Mr. Watson was able to develop a practice more centered around local business and personal clientele. In 2007, the Watson Law Office was founded and continued to evolve until Watson Smith was founded on September 1, 2015.
Matt’s primary areas of practice are civil litigation, personal injury, real estate transactions and litigation, business development and litigation, and corporate law. He is currently licensed to practice in the State and Federal Courts of New Mexico as well as Texas State Courts and the Western District of Texas.
Mr. Watson is the father of four children and thoroughly enjoys spending time with each of them. In the balance of his spare time he enjoys running, philosophy, and being outside.
